Each year thousands of people gather in Harlem, GA to attend the Oliver Hardy Festival to honor its most famous native, who teamed with Stan Laurel to become perhaps the most famous comedy duo in the history of Hollywood. Together, they made more than 100 movies.

Many of the duo’s films were shown throughout the day at the Laurel and Hardy Museum in downtown Harlem, in the museum’s rear theater space called Babe’s Bijou. “Babe” was Hardy’s nickname since he was a young man.

The Festival features about 150 vendors and two food courts lined North Louisville Street. The booths provide homemade arts, crafts, and information kiosks staffed by area civic clubs, churches and other nonprofits.
